RTP2 is the second television channel of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, the public radio and television company. Its broadcasts began on December 25, 1968.
The channel's vocation is translated into creative and varied programming for the dissemination of knowledge, information and arts and shows, aimed at developing understanding of society and institutions, better knowledge of the planet, civilizations and their history, defending the environment and minorities and promoting the role of religious denominations in society.
