Web TV Clássicos do Cinema never ends its matinee: the Brazilian channel keeps classic films on screen 24 hours a day, for anyone who enjoys revisiting older cinema on a TV, laptop or phone. It is unhurried viewing, the kind you leave on in the afternoon or catch late at night, with nostalgia as the common thread.
Viewers have a say in it. The website has a requests area where the audience suggests films they would like to see, and a WhatsApp channel keeps followers up to date.
Behind the channel stands the TV Clássicos do Cinema blog, written by a team of film lovers who describe themselves as critics, historians and collectors. It publishes reviews, behind-the-scenes stories, actor and actress profiles and themed lists ranging across action, adventure, drama, romance, comedy, crime, science fiction and horror. The same site promotes a YouTube channel on the backstage history of classic cinema and Rádio Master Dancer, a station devoted to the stories behind popular music.
The whole project comes from Manaus, deep in the Brazilian Amazon, proof that a love of old movies can thrive far from the big studios. For collectors of film memories, it makes good company at any hour.
