Balearic public television in Catalan: local news, weather, island documentaries

IB3 is the regional public broadcaster of Spain's Balearic Islands and broadcasts in Catalan. Its programmes are all about life on Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera: the "IB3 Notícies" news bulletins, the "El Temps IB3" weather forecast, magazines such as "Mosaic", documentaries about the islands and the sea, including "Un regne dins la mar", and Sunday Mass from Palma Cathedral.

Local football features too, with island clubs such as UD Poblense in Spain's fourth tier, Segunda RFEF. Online, IB3 streams the same signal as on TV, replacing commercial breaks with views of the islands.

The channel began test transmissions on 1 March 2005, Balearic Islands Day, with regular programming from September that year. Its studios are at Son Bugadelles in Calvià, near Palma. A great way to prepare a trip to Mallorca or Ibiza, or to hear everyday Catalan as spoken on the islands.
