RS News Sports 5 is one of the sports channels of the RS NEWS group, based in Pará de Minas, a city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Its focus is local sport, above all amateur football: municipal championships, cup competitions between neighbouring towns and veterans' matches.
Recent coverage has included the Pará de Minas women's amateur football championship, the Copa Centro-Oeste and inter-municipal masters friendlies, with post-match interviews with players and coaches. Results and match reports also appear on the RS NEWS website and social media.
The group distributes its channels through the RS NEWS PLAY app for Android, iOS, Roku and Amazon Fire TV, as well as on YouTube. Commentary is in Portuguese. For fans of Brazilian football beyond the big clubs, it is a rare window on the amateur game, known in Brazil as várzea football.
