Prensa Latina Live

Prensa Latina is Cuba's news agency, headquartered in Havana. Its television unit, PLTV, produces news reports, features and short documentaries about Cuba, Latin America and world affairs, mostly in Spanish, and these make up the channel's lineup together with interviews and bulletins.

The agency has permanent correspondents in around 35 countries and distributes its daily news service in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and French. Its editorial line is that of Cuba's official media, which makes the channel a first-hand source on how Havana sees regional and international events.

Prensa Latina was founded on 16 June 1959 at the initiative of Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara, with Argentine journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti as its first director; Gabriel García Márquez and Rodolfo Walsh were among its early reporters. A useful channel for students of Latin American politics and anyone curious about Cuba.
