Azteca Deportes is the sports division of TV Azteca, one of Mexico's two big television networks. Football is at the heart of it, with Liga MX and the Mexican national team, but the coverage also takes in boxing, the NFL, tennis, golf and more, with live events, news and plenty of analysis.
The line-up includes debate and highlights shows such as La Mesa Protagonista, Hijos de la Pasión, about the passion of Mexican fans, and Ritual NFL, devoted to American football, which has a huge following in Mexico. On matchdays the talk is all about the race for a place in the liguilla, the play-off stage of the Mexican league.
TV Azteca was born on 2 August 1993, when Ricardo Salinas Pliego's group bought the stations of the former state broadcaster Imevisión, and today it runs Azteca Uno, Azteca 7, ADN 40 and A Más. Much of its sport airs on Azteca 7. If you follow Mexican football and want the Azteca pundits' take, in Spanish, this is the place.
