Trace Mziki is a live music TV channel from the French group Trace, devoted to the music of East Africa. Launched on 1 September 2016 and broadcast in English, the channel takes its name from the Swahili word for "music" and highlights artists from Swahili-speaking East Africa, serving as a showcase of that scene for audiences across the continent and the diaspora. Its schedule is made up mostly of back-to-back music videos, with playlists and charts of current hits, in the fast, visual style that defines the network's channels. Founded in 2002 by Olivier Laouchez, Claude Grunitzky and Richard Wayner and based in Clichy, in the Paris area, the Trace group specialises in Afro-urban cultures and runs around thirty TV channels, including Trace Urban, Trace Africa, Trace Caribbean and Trace Gospel, as well as radio stations and the Trace+ app, where the channels can also be watched. With the tagline "We Are Mziki Chem Chem", it is a good pick for anyone who wants to discover the hits and artists of East African music.
