Panamericana Televisión is one of Peru's oldest broadcasters, on air since 16 October 1959 and on Lima's Channel 5 since 1965. News is the backbone of the schedule: Buenos Días Perú, hosted by Martín Del Pomar and Claudia Chiroque, opens the day, and 24 Horas, a newscast that has passed the 50-year mark, has a midday edition with Paola Moreno and a main edition with Marisol García.
Investigative journalism comes from Panorama, with Carla Muschi, and El Dominical, while on Sundays Milagros Leiva interviews politicians on Sin Rodeos. Entertainment includes Jorge Benavides' satirical JB Noticias, the talent show Cazador de Talentos, La Cajita Musical with cumbia, huayno and salsa, the airport-police series Alerta Aeropuerto and telenovelas such as Ana de Nadie and La Hija del Mariachi.
Its studios sit on Avenida Arequipa, in a building known as the Esquina de la Televisión, and the channel led Peru's ratings for decades. For Peruvians abroad or anyone curious about Latin American TV, it offers a direct look at the country's news and humour, all in Spanish.
