TVGE (Televisión de Guinea Ecuatorial) is the state television channel of Equatorial Guinea, run by the public broadcaster RTVGE. It is a general-interest channel with national news bulletins, official government coverage and cultural programming, mostly in Spanish.
The international feed, branded as Canal Internacional de Guinea Ecuatorial, is a rare window into one of Africa's least covered countries, from the capital Malabo on Bioko Island.
The channel was inaugurated on 20 July 1968 as a regional centre of Spain's TVE, shortly before independence, and took the TVGE name in 1979. It is funded by the state through the Ministry of Information, so its editorial line follows the government.
