BR Fernsehen - Süd is the southern regional version of Bayerischer Rundfunk's television channel, aimed at viewers in Bavaria and more specifically in the southern part of the state. Its live schedule mixes regional news, culture, documentaries, social topics, local traditions and stories from everyday life, so the channel feels grounded in real places rather than built only around headlines. It works as a broad live TV channel, but with a clear regional point of view.
Viewers usually find regional opt-outs with reports from towns and rural areas, local politics, weather, traditions, food, history and landscape. Programs tied to the southern feed, such as Abendschau – Der Süden and Schwaben & Altbayern, make that focus visible by following stories from Swabia, Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate.
