On V+ TVI, mornings start with Bom Dia, Alegria, hosted by Merche Romero and Zé Lopes: a warm, chatty companion show that now and then leaves the studio to broadcast live from towns such as Ericeira and Sesimbra. Football has its own slot in V+ Futebol, which treats the game as entertainment and talk as much as sport, and drama fills a good part of the day.
Nostalgia plays a big role. Morangos com Açúcar, the teen soap a whole generation in Portugal grew up with, and the series Inspetor Max both carried over from the former TVI Ficção, alongside reruns of A Sentença. Portuguese telenovelas such as Festa é Festa, Bem Me Quer and Quero é Viver have aired here, as have Latin American hits like Café con aroma de mujer and Esperanza mía. Ana Rita Clara is another familiar face on the channel.
V+ TVI is the general-interest channel of Media Capital, the Portuguese group behind TVI and CNN Portugal. It went on air on 9 August 2024 at 6 p.m. with five straight hours of V+ Futebol, taking the place of TVI Ficção, under director Hugo Andrade, formerly in charge of programming at RTP1 and RTP Memória. Its tagline, O canal que faltava (“the channel that was missing”), sums up the idea of a cheerful companion channel. Tuning in to V+ TVI is an easy way to enjoy Portuguese TV in a lighter mood.
