Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (known by the acronym SBT) is a Brazilian open television network founded on August 19, 1981 by renowned businessman and television presenter Silvio Santos, forming part of the Silvio Santos Group. The foundation of SBT is also a historic moment for television in Brazil and worldwide, as it was the first broadcaster in the world to broadcast its inauguration live.
SBT returned to the position of vice-leader in audience across the country since May 2014, becoming the vice-leader of Rede Record, a position in which the network had been in the audience rankings since 2008.
